EXPERIENCE Rita Bettino has broad corporate experience across a variety of business functions – from strategic marketing planning to product innovation to customer/consumer engagement. Rita is known for delivering transformational results, collaborating across diverse groups and developing strong teams and strategic partnerships.
Rita has delivered successful business results for companies such as PepsiCo, Colgate Palmolive, Robert Mondavi and Brown Forman. More recently she decided to put my skills and experience to work as a marketing consultant for smaller, emerging organizations in order to move their brands and businesses forward. Working as a consultant allows her the flexibility to be home for dinner, look after her family, and help care for her aging parents living nearby.
Rita's success – no matter what the job at hand -- is the result of a combination of skills: actively listening to a range of stakeholders’ perspectives, analyzing and translating learnings into sound decision-making and fiscal planning, and collaborating effectively with internal and external partners to overcome challenges and execute efficiently.
When Rita moved with her family to New Canaan in 2019, they immediately immersed themselves in the community. While her husband coached local basketball and flag football teams, Rita worked with Tiger Mann and her neighbors to expedite drainage improvements, install new sidewalks and re-surface our roads in order to revitalize what had been referred to as some of the worst roads in town. She also worked with the League of Women Voters’ youth chapter and oversaw the creation of a video encouraging young people to vote. In addition, she volunteers with the DTC, was appointed to TEDAC, and is part of the NC Ice Rink group that is working hard to make an open-air community ice rink at Waveny a reality (Go to NCRink.com to donate today!).
DECISION TO RUN Rita decided to run for Town Council because she loves New Canaan and wants to give back to the community. In addition to bringing a fresh perspective gleaned from other areas in which they’ve lived, her goal will be to preserve and build upon the qualities that make New Canaan so unique and attractive: Great schools, community participation that is accessible to all, open and inviting spaces we can enjoy, and a thriving local business community. She will bring a moderate, balanced and informed approach to decision-making and oversight.
