The Democratic Town Committee of New Canaan has the responsibility to “guide, direct and execute the policies and principles of the Democratic Party,” and “work to encourage the growth of an informed and conscientious electorate.” Our full by-laws are available on this site. The DTC is the representative body for the approximately 2,600 registered Democrats in the town of New Canaan.
We help nominate candidates for office, recruit and recommend appointees to town boards and commissions, organize campaigning in New Canaan on behalf of all Democratic candidates, and ensure that our party’s values and positions are a vital part of the governance of the town, state and nation.
The DTC can consist of up to 25 people, all of whom must be registered Democrats living in New Canaan, CT. Members serve two-year terms, and are either elected at a caucus of Democrats registered in New Canaan, or, if there are vacancies, appointed to fill such a vacancy by a vote of the DTC.
