Lucy Dathan’s most recent legislative report
In her most recent legislative report, Rep. Lucy Dathan, 142nd District, spoke of the impact expected federal budget cuts will have on Connecticut.
Not only do we have many competing requests on the $26 billion state budget, we have the loss of federal dollars, she explained. The funding cuts mean cancelled public health contracts, home energy assistance programs, mental health services and educational programming. We are also facing the prospect of large cuts to our state Medicaid program ("Husky") that has been estimated to be anywhere from $200 million to $1 billion.
The General Assembly, she said, is working “to ensure that none of our neediest residents fall through the cracks in these uncertain times.”
